Price gouging is actually a good thing when we are met with acute shortages. WE WANT BUSINESSES TO PRICE GOUGE. It’s the only way to stop retards from hoarding things amidst a panic. For some good academic writing on why price gouging is a good thing, check here, here, here, here, and here.
Of course, given what’s transpired in recent days (Colonial Pipeline problems), this will be an issue if it isn’t already as I write this. Don’t complain about gouging. Remember how stupid people were with the toilet paper and hand sanitizer last year. Price gouging is how the market corrects and prevents such insanity.
